last night, i was in the globe business center in megamall to have my gcash loaded (online shopping hehe). then i saw their flyer on their newest iPhone promo. the iPhone 3G 8GB (not yet the 3Gs) is now for FREE if you subscribe to an iPhone plan 2199. globe's web site is still outdated so i checked out how much savings really there is in this promo. in the original iPhone plan 2199, you would need to shell out 9,400 pesos to get the iPhone 3G 8GB. the plan is not consumable. it's similar to the very very old plans of globe. it comes with 210 local voice minutes, 350 local sms and 30 hours wiz wi-fi hours. from the web site, they say those are free. that's marketing! those are not free, those are the services you need to avail every month so you could make the most out of your 2199 peso plan. oh well, excess calls (globe - 5pesos, non-globe - 6.50) and sms (0.50 cents/msg) are all reasonable anyway. but if i were to get one, i'd definitely be conscious of making excess charges. 2199 is more than enough for me (i have 1200 plan right now and i'm still having a hard time consuming it every month). my happy birthday is in two weeks time. this promo really makes me think. i was even exchanging sms with the husband about the promo last night. and i was driving home then. hahaha. let's see how it goes. the promo started last june 17 and it would end on july 31. i still have lots and lots of time to think about this. whatchathink?! :p
