i was inspired by kaye's celfones so i'm also posting mine here. besides, i badly need a filler. lol. so for 9 years of working in the IT industry, i got myself 9 celfones. hmm, that means at least one new phone a year. but that's just because i lost two phones in one year. grrr. ok just read on...
nokia 3210 - yes, this was my first unit. i never got to own the first model 5510 because the 3210 was more "in" that time. nokia getting rid of the alien like antenna made this unit more attractive to the yuppies. i'm not sure if i got a blue one or a gray one at first. but definitely i was one of those people who pimped their units almost every week. i got cartoon character covers (hello kitty, winnie the pooh) and some cute stuff toys as holders. i got bored of this when i saw the red 3310 so i passed this on to my mom. and oh, this was my first gadget purchase in my then barely one-month old citibank mastercard credit card. if my memory serves me right, this costed something like 9-10k pesos nine years ago.
nokia 3310 - i immediately fell in love with this unit when it first came out with the red model. gosh, i'm really a red fan ever since. lol. i still remember i even bugged my sister (who was already in amsterdam then) to help me buy this unit. i didn't have enough moolah then to purchase the unit so i asked for cash gift from my sister for Christmas. hehehe. just like the 3210, it was also pimped almost every week. just like the covers, logos and ringtones were also constantly changed. i think i bought this around 8-10k pesos eight years ago.
nokia 8310 - after the hype of the red 3310, nokia 8310 instantly became the apple of my eye when it was first released in the market. if i had love at first sight with 3310, i'd say 8310 was my true love. lol. imagine i really reserved my 13th month pay for this unit because it was too pricey at 18k-20k pesos seven years ago. i love its combination of colors. it was red with pink and gray. it was the perfect combination for me. i also liked the fact the screen was no longer green just like the other older units. i could still remember the heavenly feeling when i got hold of my own unit in globe business center. i was so into it (like being all over a bf) until i lost the unit when we went to enchanted kingdom. i was so devastated when i realized i dropped my celfone while watching a show in front of the rialto. *sigh*. it was probably one of the saddest moments in my life. imagine i was crying over the phone for almost a week. bye bye 20k. it lasted for 14mos and i had no plans of replacing it. sadness.
nokia 6100 - after a month of contemplating to get a new unit when i lost my lovely 8310, i got myself a 6100. it really made me forget about my 8310 because this unit was uber cute and it was my first colored phone. i was so happy with it until it was stolen from me by a pickpocket while i was enjoying kamiseta's sale. i had two units then at my bag: my sister's moto fone which i used after i lost the 8310 and then my two-week old 6100. the thief got the 6100 and not my sister's old moto fone. darn! i was again devastated. it was even more depressing because my dad was scolding about losing two phones in barely two months. huhuhu. i prayed so hard to God that time. because aside from losing some phones, i was about to lose my job because i was no longer happy with my work and i was really determined to quit. but then God is really good because He gave me a new work after a month of losing the unit. and added bonus, i got a free 6100 with a new subscription with globe. yiipee! i think the unit lasted for two years with me. it was all so worth it. i couldn't remember though how much it costed before. and i couldn't also remember when i let go of this phone and to whom did i pass it to. hmmm. all i could remember is that it has been my travel buddy in europe for some time. so actually i got myself 10 phones, but still 9 models (i got two 6100s).
nokia 6230 - this was one of my cool phones. i think a lot of people still own this unit even though there are already new and better models. the interface is so simple. it's colored, it has fm player. basic call and text and then cool and fun games. this phone was also my travel buddy to europe until it got drowned with the rest of my friends's gadgets in boracay. it was barely 6 months old then. i was too stupid to turn it on when it was still wet with salt water. it's board ended up corroded so the phone literally died in boracay. good memories. cozy death. lol. it didn't hurt that much though compared when i lost my 8310 and 6100. i think because it came free with a new plan.
nokia 6230i - since i loved my old 6230, i just replaced it with an upgrade. 6230i is basically just a 6230 but with an upgraded camera. the 6230 has a 640x80 while the 6230i has 1.3MP. it was totally cool if you don't have your own digital camera then. and i must say the image improved significantly so i have a couple of travel pics with this phone. to date, this was my last colored phone from nokia. it was also my last travel buddy in europe. probably i got so bored of this phone because of staying too much in nokia house (nokia's main office in finland). i lost the excitement because i get to see in person the new phones to be released at least a quarter early than the rest of the world. i didn't become an anti-nokia but i just go so sick of seeing everybody with a nokia phone. lol. so i passed this unit to my husband (who was then my bf). i think it was barely a year old when he got it from me.
motorola v3 - this was my first ever non-nokia celfone. my husband bought it for me (12mos at 0% interest) in lieu of my nokia 6230i. i think it was around 20k pesos three years ago. now it's only around 5k pesos. lol. but i really really liked this phone. although it was really a big struggle in the start to do the transition from the nokia interface to a totally new different interface. i also liked the fuchsia version of this phone but i thought it was too girly so i just settled for the black one. it's formal, it's for the yuppie. ;) and oh, i brought this phone to my trips in nokia house. one time i forgot to turn off the ringer and it ringed like crazy with the "hello moto" song. i panicked and almost died in embarrassment. good thing no nokians heard or at least they just ignored what they heard. lol. i was so scared they'd throw my phone over the window. =p
nokia 1100 - this was my last nokia purchase to date. i had to buy a simple nokia phone so i could bring it to the nokia house together with my moto v3. just so i could bring a nokia phone whenever i had to attend a client meeting. lol. it was very cheap at 4k pesos (or was it 2k pesos?). it came with a prepaid sim that i also used for some time in dealing with my ebay buyers. had to let go of this unit when i finally gave up my moto v3 (replaced with v8) and my husband returned back my nokia 6230i (got himself a new phone too). i think it was sold for around 500-800 pesos only. i actually miss this phone. it was all so worth it with its price. it's cheap, it's very handy. and it does the basic call and text. i think i could probably live with this kind of celphone. i don't need the extra features anymore coz i'm practically in front of the computer the whole day. the rest of the celphone features i need can be done in my laptop and i'd really prefer most of my tasks to be done in the computer.
motorola v8 - this is my latest phone, my 2nd motorola unit and probably would be the last motorola i'd own. i'm so bored of it already. maybe because djuan has been abusing this phone. it's always filthy and it has already a lot of scratches from the countless falls it had and from djuan's ruthless bites. lol. actually i didn't have a plan of replacing my moto v3. i even purchased a new battery for that phone before i got this new unit. last year i learned from my sister-in-law that globe has an ongoing loyalty program and as usual it was only promoted by word of mouth. i called up globe's customer service and learned i was eligible to get a free motorola v8. of course, i had to extend my plan again for another two years. but what the heck, it's a free phone! lol.
right now, i'm not sure what's my next phone. i'd love to have a 3g iphone but it's just too expensive. if i were still single, i already got myself one. you know financial situation is already different if you already have a kid. lol. let's see. if i get crazy, i'd have an iphone on december. mangarap ka, pheng! :))
